FAQ

  • Where do you operate?
We currently host classes throughout North Carolina, with plans to offer our full scope of classes throughout the USA in 2023. We operate at partner locations, public parks and national forests. Check our current locations here.
  • Can we plan a private trip?
Yes! We offer private guided trips led by our passionate outdoor trip guides. For more information click here.
  • Can I bring a stroller?
Strollers are only consistently permitted during caregiver and me style classes. These classes are held on more stable surfaces that will be easier to maneuver a stroller on. Workshops and Guided Excursions will not permit strollers unless specifically stated on program descriptions. Not all trails will be stroller compatable.
  • Can I just show up to a program and pay on site to join?
No. Program registration closes 48 hours prior to a trip to ensure we can properly prepare as well as alert park authorities in advance the information about our group size. It is illegal in many state and federal parks to exchange tender for private businesses on park property.
  • How many participants are allowed per program?
Caregiver and Me style programs are capped at 6 students and 1 caregiver per student. Including the 1-2 class guides, the class will have 13-14 people present. Private Trips are generally capped off at 12 participants. This allows us to provide two trip guides for maximum trip safety and will include 14 people present. Workshops are capped at 10 participants and 1-2 instructors. This will result in 12 people present.
  • What should we wear?
Each class/experience comes with specific attire & supplies instructions. Please review your class description or email info@wilderbound.co
  • Are the classes different between sessions 1 and 2 or different seasons?
Yes. We proudly offer three sessions per class-type with completely different classes. Each session also changes month to month and year over year, thanks to the ever-changing wilderness!
  • Bathrooms on the trail
At many of our sites, our only available facilities are port-a-potties or outhouses. Due to the nature of our programming, we are sometimes too far away from these facilities to make it back in time. If this is the case, we will instruct campers on Leave No Trace practices and assist them in digging a cat hole before making sure they have the privacy to do their business.
  • What is your Refund Policy?

If we cancel class due to weather, you will receive a credit to your account to apply to a future drop-in class or experience. Please be sure to check your email before EVERY class.
  • What if we are on our exploration and the weather becomes severe?
